How do I know what kind of employee benefits that I need?

The answer to this question can be complex and be different for each employer and even each employee. Typically the decision as to what is offered is based on many factors including pricing, size of employer and the budget for both the employer and employee. Offering a great benefit package also can assist in employee retention in a tight labor market. What to offer can also be based on goals for wellness and other factors.
What do I need to pull together in order to begin the process of getting quotes for an employee benefit program?

For most employers we will need a census that includes all of the following items: employee name, gender, date of birth, smoking/tobacco yes or no, home zip code and the same data on any dependents to be covered. We also ask for a copy of your current benefit plan and discuss what you want to consider adjusting. If you are large enough to have claims data, we need those reports as well along with the carrier’s paperwork to fill out for Underwriting in the over 50-employer size.
How long does it take to get quotes and implement a plan?

In today’s market, this can move fairly quickly if all of the data is submitted at once. This can be several days or even a week or more depending on the time of year you are looking. After the rates are offered, it is up to the employer to make a decision and begin the enrollment process. At Carolina Benefit Consultants, Inc. we assist in the enrollment process for either an in person or online enrollment for your employees.
What happens once we have a plan in place?

At Carolina Benefit Consultants, Inc. we work with our clients all year long to make sure things are running smoothly for you. This means if you have any questions or need assistance, we are only a call or email away. Typically the hardest part of offering an employee benefit plan is the quoting and installation process. Once all that is in place, things normally run smoothly. When you have a hiccup or issue that needs resolution, give us a call! For your benefit renewal, we like to begin working on that a few months ahead of time. Each client has a timetable they want to get things done, so we work with each client on that schedule.
